REINVENTION: A GATHERING OF VOICES, VISIONS AND NEW ARTISTIC DIRECTIONS IN LAGOS

Opening on Saturday, June 6, 2026, and running through June 14 at 8A, Karimu Kotun, Victoria Island, Lagos, REINVENTION gathers together a remarkable collection of artists whose works reflect experimentation, emotional depth, social consciousness, and the ever-changing language of contemporary African art.

The exhibition features the works of Ademola Akinleye MGHR, Emmanuel Isiuwe MGHR, Ogbemi Heymann MGHR, Thomas Oghale Agboge MGHR, Dolapo Ogunnusi MGHR, Gbenga Olatunji-Aguda MGHR, and Paul Ayokhai MGHR. Through drawings and paintings, these artists present layered interpretations of identity, human experience, spirituality, urban realities, memory, and transformation.

The title REINVENTION speaks directly to the current phase of African contemporary art, where artists continue to reshape visual traditions while creating fresh narratives for modern audiences. Across the exhibition, viewers encounter expressive figures, textured abstractions, symbolic compositions, and energetic colour relationships that reveal both personal introspection and collective cultural reflection.

The exhibition is expected to draw collectors, curators, art enthusiasts, cultural stakeholders, and lovers of contemporary African art from across Lagos and beyond.

Supported by Kewalram Chanrai Group and Squeast, REINVENTION also reinforces the growing importance of institutional and corporate support in sustaining Nigeria’s expanding creative ecosystem.
