DR. KUNLE FILANI AT 60.

On September 7 2017, the creme dela creme of the art and academics gathered at the Yusuf Grillo Auditorium of Yaba college of technology to celebrate a man who have seen and done it all for Nigerian art, both as an artist, administrator and teacher in the person of Dr. Kunle Filani as he celebrates his 60th birthday; from Edosa Ogiugo, Olu Ajayi, Jelili Atiku, Ben Enwonwu, Dotun Alabi where present among others; virtually all the Art lecturers of the Yabatech school of Art and Design where present from Mr. Mike Omogie, to Dr. Emmanuel Irokanulo, Mr. Pius Egiolamhen , Dr Ndubuisi Chinyere; FCE(T) Akoka, Univesity of Lagos, FCE Abeokuta, friends, families and well-wishers where also all present to witness the celebration of the great Icon.

The program was anchored by the renowned artist Mufu Onifade, with the welcome address taken by Dr. Kunle Adeyemi. The Chairman of the programme Mr. Kolade Oshinowo spoke highly of the celebrant. The event was back by an eloquent and very brilliant lecture titled "Kunle Filani: The Multi-sidedness of Creative Activism". After the cutting of cake, Chairman’s closing remarks, vote of thanks by the Celebrants and photo section, the programme was crowned with a performance enacted by Odun Orimolade and Jelili Atiku titled “Ehyenyenyen” and an exhibition of the Celebrants works of art was exhibited at the Yusuf Grillo gallery. It was indeed a very colourful, impactful and joyous day. Once again happy birthday to the hardworking, humble and erudite scholar Dr. Kunle Filani and big congratulations to his very supportive wife Mammy T.
