Edosa Ogiugo
Edosa Ogiugo was born in 1961 in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. He studied and graduated from the prestigious Yaba College of Technology, School of Art, design and printing technology with National Diploma (1982) and Higher National Diploma (1985) in Fine Art specializing in Painting.
He worked in advertising field from 1986 to 1992 before focusing on art full-time studio practice, with a career as an artist spaning over 25 years. Ogiugo is known for his large canvasses of equestrian and dancing scenes. His fascination with horses began after a visit to his wife's family in northern Nigeria and for Ogiugo it is more than anything else the technical challenges of mastering his subject matter that inspires him.
Edosa Ogiugo, had distinguished himself with his creative focuses to the labour that precedes successes and achievements in life. He masterfully captures the spirit of human nature in his exquisite, vivid paintings. His highly recognizable and distinctive style creates expressive and energetic works that captive his viewers.
His works are marketed by Galleries locally and internationally. He has participated in several workshops, solo and group exhibitions which has in no small measure grown his fame as an artist. Among this are, Jazz 38 Salon (1989), Celebration of forms, (1992), Art Afrique Pretoria City, South Africa (2001), Accenture-Open day (2001) Colours Nigeriana, South Africa (2003), Journeying through Nigerian Art, (2003) among others.
