Oladotun Popoola




Oladotun Popoola, born in 1981 in Lagos, He is a multimedia artist with special focus on Metal fabrication and paintings; hails from Abeokuta in Ogun State, attended kings and Queens College Ibadan, holds a National Diploma in Painting and General Art from the Auchi polytechnic, Edo State where he won the Best Student in 2004. He also graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife. He was the overall best student in sculpture. He bagged a Master’s degree in Fine Arts (MFA Painting) from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife in 2014. He trained in many studios including Ara studio, and also one of the founding member and secretary of Araism Movement and Auchi Heritage, and He is a member of Society of Nigerian Artist (SNA) Lagos state chapter. He did an Artist Residency at John Lopez Studio, Lemmon, South Dakota, USA and focus on hybrid metal art which has influenced his recent pieces. He executed many Mural paintings in different communities in USA and Nigeria. He has also coordinated many workshops and seminars in Nigeria. Popoola works with the National Gallery of Arts, Osogbo Outstation.
