Iโ€™m so proud of you, my son David

Posted by: Benjamin Onuorah

Help me celebrate my 8-year old boy. Aside from his school activities, his chess classes, his craft activities and playing time with his friends, he managed to read 27 books ๐Ÿ“š this year.

As a proud mother and some form of encouragement, I will be gifting him N20,000 (which I would pay into his personal account), I will also buy more books for him to read in year 2026.

We will surely gift some of these books out and hopefully, he receives some book gifts as well.

Something that started as giving him reward of N500 for completing one book to put inside his kolo...more or less like a brรฎbe self, as now turned into something he enjoys so much that he doesn't ask for money again.

I can't believe I now beg him to put down book in order to eat and sleep.
Some parents have been asking me how I got my son David's to love reading so much and where I got him those books.
Well, na bend down select ooooo๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚
They were actually second-hand...new ones are quite expensive and I want my son to read. Then I thought whether new or used one, na the same thing dey inside jare.

I bought storybooks combined with educational books, craft book, Nigeria๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ Atlas and some science books as well....in short, I bought combination.
Na total package I got for him.

I got 30 books ๐Ÿ“š the last time I bought them at a road side in Lagos...he also got few as books as gift.
Guess what!?

He has actually read 27 books this year since January.

I will share some book reviews he did with you...you will laugh ehn๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚
Come to think of it ooooo, reward always work whether for young or old. Even at place of work...that thing dey always ginger someone to do more.
By the way, did I tell you he's doing very well at school and his crafts as well...despite reading these books. The books no dey affect his studies at all. He does his homework and study as well.

Above all, all of these activities reduce screen time baje.

What method did you use to make your child fall in love with books?
Let's learn together ๐Ÿฅฐ
