Chalk, Clarity, and Preservation
Posted by: Benjamin Onuorah
Almost every classroom in America has blackboard with chalk, whiteboard with marker, and projector. From kindergarten to University.
Each serves a purpose. Some mathematicians solve certain problems with blackboard using chalk. Some prefer whiteboard. But mostly blackboard for clarity. This is even psychological for students as it enhances their learning. Numerous researches have been conducted on importance of blackboard and learning ability.
For students to understand the steps and formulas very well, projector isn't necessary. You don't use projector to learn certain things. Instead, writing on the board. Projector is used for presentation. As a teacher, when you teach and you remember to write something immediately on the board, you either pick chalk or marker.
Many students learn faster and understand better with chalk and blackboard than whiteboard and marker.
These people make sure that every aspect of classroom pedagogy is preserved and utilized.
But guess what?
Bongorians are laughing and asking: how can America use blackboard and chalk in 21st century? One even assumed it could be suburb of America I was teaching and writing on the board. People who don't know what they are doing but wear ignorance like agbada.
They learn one thing and throw away everything they have without understanding how things work. Nobody leaves behind their existence apart from Africans. Every invention and innovation oyibo make come from what they already have through preservations. You think they are foolish by investing in arts and humanities, museums and history.
You want to activate your useless and poor classism on everything including classroom setting. Everything is about forming. You think the rest of the world and advanced nations have such useless mentality.
If you want to copy, copy everything and stop hanging like a nylon sailing on the water. Understand why you should copy and the history behind everything.
What do I expect from people who import toothpick from China?
